Poster Designs For Theatre
These are a set of posters that I designed entirely in Photoshop with a load of source pics. They were made for a run of contests at the theatre giving away various prizes in celebration of the building being newly expanded/renovated. All were printed out professionally on high-gloss posters at a size of nearly 3 feet by two feet.
Four posters on all were created, though the final one is not displayed here, as internet resolution has a heck of a hard time displaying anywhere close to what it actually looks like. I'll keep trying, though, and will post it if I can get it to work.
The bike contest is the currently on display, with the others set to follow.

Dr. Pepper Bike Giveaway Poster
Ahh, the Dr. Pepper sign. What fun. Despite having the bike in our possession at the time I made this poster, it was not assembled, nor did we have an actual picture of the bike, which I really wanted for the sign. So, the Great Internet Search Of Our Time began...and went on for some time thereafter. Every page of the Dr. Pepper and Coca Cola company websites was looked at. But do they actually show their bike? Oh no... So, every search engine out there was used to find the bike. Every search I could think of was done. And how many pictures of this bike was I able to find. One. Just one. A darkly lit pic that appeared to have been taken in someone's garage, complete with said someone standing beside it, and a vehicle parked directly behind it. Joy. Time to get rid of everything in the image but the bike. I'll spare the details, but suffice it to say that even with the best source pic of a bike, spokes and other fine details can present problems if you wanna preserve them. In a pic like I had to work with...well...it wasn't fun, or easy, and a lot of cheating was finally done to make it look respectable. Of course, by the time the actual bike was put together for display, after the poster had already been printed and shipped in, the bike ended up being a different color than what you see here. But you know what? At that point, you laugh, say "oh well," and move on.
BTW: Sorry to make a story out of it all. Thanks for listening.

Coca Cola Giveaway Poster
This one was fun. Coca Cola has a distinctive logo that can still look great even when you've done all sorts of stuff to it, as I did here. So, I made the custom background, which I'd suggest the company officially endorse, and got to building the Coke Pyramid. For this, I started off with a single 12-pack or whatever that is, changed the angle, and started duplicating and stacking, giving it a drop-shadow to complete the effect. Mess around with some fun text, add the company logos, and you've got yourself a poster!

Paramount Leather Jacket Giveaway Poster
For this poster, I created a customized background using the Paramount logo as the starting point. The jacket had to be modeled by me in a seperate picture to get the angle I wanted to use. I erased myself from the picture, and brought the jacket onto this background. Side note: it turns out that adjusting the look of leather on the computer is not the easiest thing in the world to do. From there, it was just a matter of playing around with the text until I liked it, and adding the small company logos in the corner. |
